Whether you are a parent, teacher, librarian, bookstore owner,
or nature educator, Kris’s monarch story offers a bright and meaningful way
to introduce children to transformation, migration, and the beauty of the outdoors.
Kris Ries

I have lived in many places, from the Virgin Islands to Alaska and from Hawaii to Connecticut, but Beaver Island, Michigan, has always felt like home.

My goal in life was to see the world, and I have done a pretty good job. Still, some of the most amazing things can be found right in your own backyard.

I wrote My Three Me’s to tell the incredible story of the monarch butterfly: its transformation, its long migration, and the hidden magic that happens when we are not watching.
